Artesia’s Maps!
Hello Readers!
Although The printing of my book “Artesia” has been great in most cases, Some printing production issues have cropped up on the first batches of books. These are being addressed however i also noticed and adjusted Artesia’s map once already as it came to my attention that the map labels were simply not readable. Well, there is still an issue even with the update.
Due to the smaller format of the painting in the book page, it is just too hard to see. I also had to distort the map to fit the format of the book.
Update: May 5th, 2025!
I have updated the print Book interior to include a larger version of the maps. The Black and White edition of the books will also include slightly clearer War time map now. Since the maps were practically unreadable before, it should be easier to read them now in print however I still recommend everyone who had trouble to continue to view these maps here for more details.

Now for some Collector and Edition related info…
First Edition “State Variants” & Collector’s Information
My latest changes to the book include a few spelling and grammar corrections throughout the book and on the copyright page, a slightly re-written wording of the copyright page for clarity of my intent and the maps descriptions were altered to provide more information and formatting. nothing else was changed in the #4 State variant. Please note there is no marker on any of the variants to know what “state” version it is so i have posted the most up to date info i have here (from my own memory and records).
There are now 4 “state” variants of the first edition manuscript.
| 1st (A) – March 14th 2025 | The first variant (A) was the original submitted to the copyright office for approval with unreadable maps. and various spelling mistakes. First version of the copyright page. This State variant was never printed. Original PDF at copyright.gov are not able to be printed.. this was a mistake and new PDFs were created for submission. Introduction of the “by by” error on the copyright page. (Current digital versions of files at copyright office) |
| 2nd (B) – March 15th, 2025 | The second variant (B) is virtually identical to the first “state” variant (A). Correction of Print version PDF’s (not yet sent to copyright office.) I can’t remember if I corrected anything in the text for the manuscript or not. I don’t think i did. Still has the “by by” error. Still has unreadable maps. Still has some formatting issues.
This version was printed in the first batch of Amazon Proof books ever. Then I ordered author copies: Amazon – Printed 1 Special Edition Color hardcover (first ever), 3 B&W hardcover editions with printing errors or production issues & 5 miscut and misprinted paperback editions arrived. The entire order was credited as the quality on these books was terrible condition except that the color edition and two of the hardcovers were salvageable. Some were sent to friends and family the rest are in my possession. After that came the first IngramSpark printed books (March 27th Order date) 3 Hardcover Special Editions (with dust jackets), 3 B&W Hardcovers (with dust jackets) and 3 Paperbacks. All 3 paperbacks had a misprint cover (slightly off on the spine) this was do to needing a revision on the print files. I have a copy of all three versions and also some copies were sent to friends from this batch. Note: It was here I discovered that the paperback Ingram edition cover file was not correct and had Getcovers fix it and reupload changes. One of these Hardcover B&W was a misprint and is now a collectors item and was reprinted and being sent to me as it is not sellable. One Hardcover special color edition, One paperback and One Hardcover B&W edition was sent to the Library and Archives Canada for preservation. |
| 3rd (C) – March 26th 2025 | This state variant I attempted to Correct the maps in the book. I also changed some wording around on the copyright page however the “by by” error was still present as i did not notice it. Labels on maps were enlarged from the original map, blacck and white map was altered to try to emboss edges more and tone was changed a bit for more easy readability. The update was better but wasn’t good enough. The printing DPI didn’t seem high enough and the map was distorted too much.
Ingram author copy order (not fully received yet) for (Order Date April 14th, 2024): 3 Hardcover Special Color Collector’s Editions, 5 Hardcover Black and White versions and 5 Paperback Versions exist. Amazon – first customer copies of the paperback were ordered during this time. One order in particular was the first paperback ever printed by Amazon. |
| 4th (D) – May 1st 2025
Most updated Printed maps in the Print books! |
I edited the maps again and made them larger on the page. I also tried to restore more of the actual width however not fully to make the text more legible. I lightened the War time map as it was too dark. I added a better description to the maps underneath. I corrected the “by by” error in the copyright page. I also corrected some spelling and grammar issues throughout the book and also corrected some minor formatting issues and raised the bottom margin slightly. |
Note: As of May 5th, 2025 Every print book to be published is now set to print with this new update. All new orders for both Amazon and Ingram sources (bookstores) will get the newly updated maps!
eBook changes are pending soon.
